People living near the beach got a big surprise this morning. Instead of sand and rocks, the ground was covered in millions of hot, salty chips! The "Golden Tide" covers the whole beach for miles.
Experts are not sure how this happened. They think a large ship carrying frozen potatoes might have tipped over in the ocean. They have also estimated that there are around 10 million chips! Now, the chips are washing up with every wave. The smell of salt and vinegar is so strong you can smell it from miles away.
The local birds are very happy. Thousands of seagulls have flown to the beach for a giant snack. One local man said, "I came out to walk my dog, but I ended up needing a bottle of ketchup instead!"
The police are telling people not to eat the chips because they have been in the salty sea water. Workers are now starting the big job of cleaning up the beach, but it is very slow because the ground is very oily and slippery.
